Accenture interview questions and answers: assessments and interview

By Manideep · Updated 21 October 2026 · 5 min read

Accenture interview questions come after a set of online assessments. Freshers are commonly reported to take a cognitive and technical assessment, a coding assessment and a communication assessment, then a single interview that mixes technical questions on programming, databases and your project with HR questions on teamwork, relocation and why Accenture. How well you score in the assessments decides whether you are considered for the Associate Software Engineer role or the higher Advanced Associate Software Engineer role.

This guide covers each assessment, the interview questions with sample answers, and how to prepare. Accenture changes its process between hiring seasons, so check your invitation and Accenture's official careers pages for the current version.

The Accenture hiring process at a glance

StageWhat it tests
Cognitive assessmentReasoning, attention and problem-solving; recent candidates describe short game-based tasks.
Technical assessmentMultiple-choice questions on programming, data structures, databases, networking, cloud basics and pseudocode.
Coding assessmentUsually two problems at easy to medium difficulty, in C, C++, Java or Python.
Communication assessmentSpoken English and, in some drives, a short piece of writing such as an email.
InterviewA combined technical and HR discussion, often friendly and conversational.

Accenture's own careers FAQ says its technical assessments look at how you approach and solve problems, not only whether you reach the right answer, and that the assessment does not replace interviews: recruiters review the results alongside your background.

The assessments, one by one

Cognitive assessment. Recent candidates describe short timed games testing memory, attention and logic, each a few seconds to a few minutes long. You cannot cram for these, but playing a few practice versions removes the surprise, which is most of the battle.

Technical assessment. Expect multiple-choice questions on OOP, data structures, DBMS and SQL, operating systems, computer networks, cloud computing and pseudocode output. Revising your second- and third-year notes covers most of it.

Coding assessment. Two problems in a fixed time, commonly reported as easy to medium: arrays, strings, loops and simple logic. Correct, running code matters more than elegance. Read the input format carefully; many failed submissions are input-parsing mistakes.

Communication assessment. A spoken test of pronunciation, fluency and understanding, sometimes conducted by an automated system, and in some drives a short written task. Speak clearly and at a steady pace rather than fast.

Accenture technical interview questions with answers

Explain your final-year project.

The most common opening. Cover the problem, your role, the technology, a difficulty you solved and the result. Expect follow-ups on why you chose each tool.

What is polymorphism? Give an example.

The ability of one interface to behave differently depending on the object. Example: a draw() method behaves differently for a Circle and a Square that both inherit from Shape. Method overloading is compile-time polymorphism; overriding is run-time polymorphism.

Explain normalisation and its normal forms.

Organising tables to remove duplicate data and update problems. First normal form: atomic values, no repeating groups. Second: no partial dependency on part of a composite key. Third: no transitive dependency, so non-key columns depend only on the key.

What is a deadlock, and how can it be prevented?

Two or more processes each waiting for a resource the other holds, so none can continue. It needs four conditions at once: mutual exclusion, hold and wait, no pre-emption and circular wait. Prevent it by breaking one of them, for example by always acquiring resources in a fixed order.

What is the difference between TCP and UDP?

TCP is connection-oriented and reliable: it guarantees delivery and order, and is used for web pages and email. UDP is connectionless and faster but does not guarantee delivery, and is used for video calls, streaming and games where speed matters more than every packet.

What is cloud computing, and what are its service models?

Using computing resources over the internet and paying for what you use. Infrastructure as a Service gives you servers and storage, Platform as a Service gives you a managed environment to run code, and Software as a Service gives you a finished application, such as email.

Write a program to check whether a string is a palindrome.

Compare characters from both ends moving inwards; if any pair differs, it is not a palindrome. O(n) time, O(1) extra space. Say how you would handle case and spaces if the interviewer asks for a real-world version.

If live coding makes you freeze, practise describing your approach before you type. The AI coding interview assistant page shows how ClearMyRound supports live coding rounds.

Accenture HR interview questions with answers

Tell me about yourself.

One minute: your degree, a project or internship that matters, and why Accenture. See our guide to tell me about yourself.

Why Accenture?

Mention its range of consulting and technology work and something specific you are drawn to. Sample: "Accenture works on both the business problem and the technology, and I want to learn how projects are shaped from the client's side, not only how they are built."

Are you comfortable relocating and working in any technology?

Freshers are often assigned to a technology and location after training. If you are flexible, say so; it is one of the main things this question checks.

Tell me about a time you worked in a team.

Use the STAR method with a real example, and make your own contribution clear.

Do you have any questions for us?

Ask about training, or the kind of projects new joiners start on.

More model answers are in our guide to the 25 most common HR interview questions.

How to prepare for Accenture

  1. Try a few practice game-based cognitive tests so the format is familiar.
  2. Revise OOP, DBMS, operating systems, networks and cloud basics for the technical assessment.
  3. Solve 30 to 50 easy and medium coding problems on arrays, strings and loops, in one language.
  4. Practise speaking English clearly for a few minutes at a time, and record yourself once.
  5. Prepare your project, and short answers to the HR questions above, out loud.

Practise the interview as a conversation, because that is how it is usually run. An AI mock interview built from your resume asks one question at a time and follows up the way a real interviewer would.

A few more answers

Frequently asked questions

How many rounds are there in the Accenture interview?

For freshers, usually a cognitive and technical assessment, a coding assessment, a communication assessment and one interview combining technical and HR questions.

What is the difference between ASE and Advanced ASE at Accenture?

Associate Software Engineer is the standard fresher role. Advanced Associate Software Engineer is a higher role for candidates who score well in the cognitive and coding assessments.

Is the Accenture coding round difficult?

It is commonly reported as easy to medium: usually two problems on arrays, strings and basic logic. Correct, running code within the time limit matters most.

What is the Accenture communication assessment?

A test of spoken English: pronunciation, fluency and understanding. Some drives add a short written task, such as writing an email.

Is the Accenture interview technical or HR?

Usually both in one conversation: questions on programming, databases and your project, and questions on teamwork, flexibility and why Accenture.
